During the winter we commonly crave heavier and fatty foods, and in addition we tend also to exercise less, be less outdoors and more prone to low moods. As a consequence, by end of the season, we gain weight and lack energy. At the same time that we are excited for the spring to come and warm our days, we might feel a lack of motivation to take a step further to finally take that class at the gym, recover your dusty bike from the garage or wear that cute dress soon. Did you ever feel this way?
That’s why I don’t skip my Spring Detox every year. I feel it boosts my vitality and renew my energy to put back in practice the things I most love to do after few months of cold weather: go outdoors, be more active and enjoy warm sunshine on my skin.
My Detox plan is very simple, lasting only an average of 3 days, and it’s pretty much based on green juices. It helps my body to spend more energy cleansing than digesting, and nourishes my body with a tremendous amount of nutrients and phytochemicals, boosting all our body functions, including our body intrinsic ability to repair. Fruit juices are not recommended because they deliver a huge amount of sugar all at once to our body, so better be very cautious about them.
Here I share one of my favorite recipes to go straight into your juicer:
- 1 cucumber
- 1/2 Fennel bulb
- 4 celery stalks
- 5 large Romaine Lettuce leaves
